Enriching Mechanical Engineering Higher Education Courses

Xuan Tien Vo, Mechanical Engineering Lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City of Technical Education, is changing the way he engages his Mechanical Engineering students. Instead of spending the semester lecturing to his students, Mr. Tien is incorporating active learning into his curriculum and having his students complete different team activities. Tien is a recent Higher Engineering Education Alliance Program (HEEAP) participant and credits his new facilitation approach to the knowledge gained during his training at Arizona State University.

VEEC 2015 Hosted by the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology

On March 16–17, 2015, the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT) in partnership with the Higher Engineering Education Alliance Program (HEEAP), will be hosting the third annual Vietnam Engineering Education Conference (VEEC). VEEC 2015 is a major event bringing together global industry, government and academic professionals to discuss transformative ideas and solutions to engineering and technical education programs in Vietnam. 

2013 International Workshop on Excellent Engineering Education (IWEEE 2013)

About 60 educators, researchers and administrators came together Thursday, September 12 at the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology’s (UD-DUT) Learning Resource Center for the 2013 International Workshop on Excellent Engineering Education (IWEEE 2013).

The workshop, sponsored by HEEAP and Arizona State University (ASU), allowed representatives from HEEAP partner universities, the United Kingdom’s Sterling Group and several other international universities to speak and learn about a variety of topics related to engineering education.

Introduction to Engineering Workshop

The University of Technical Education of Ho Chi Minh City (UTE) hosted a faculty workshop on June 27, where faculty worked together to create a new course for incoming freshmen. The first-year course, called Introduction to Engineering, will provide students with career orientation, soft skill training and engineering ethics training in order to help them adapt to the college environment and move forward on the way to becoming engineers.

Program works to bolster global high-tech industry

Arizona State University’s effort to modernize engineering education in Vietnam has gained another major industry partner.

National Instruments will team with ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering to provide research and teaching tools to engineering programs at eight Vietnam universities and vocational education institutions.
