About 60 educators, researchers and administrators came together Thursday, September 12 at the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology’s (UD-DUT) Learning Resource Center for the 2013 International Workshop on Excellent Engineering Education (IWEEE 2013).
The workshop, sponsored by HEEAP and Arizona State University (ASU), allowed representatives from HEEAP partner universities, the United Kingdom’s Sterling Group and several other international universities to speak and learn about a variety of topics related to engineering education.
Pearson, HEEAP’s newest partner who will provide a Learning Management System for HEEAP schools, presented about the use of educational technology tools. Other subjects discussed include curriculum design, innovative pedagogy methods, professional skills for students, distance education and e-learning, quality assurance and international collaboration.
HEEAP faculty took this opportunity to share their practical experience that they learned after attending a six week summer training session at ASU and spending time applying their newly acquired skills in the classroom. Mr. Le Van Khoi and Dr. Nguyen Giao Hoa, local HEEAP staff, delivered a keynote speech on HEEAP’s achievements and its roadmap for the future.
At the end of the workshop, participants took part in a round-table discussion about how to improve engineering education in Vietnam, and ways that the international community can actively help the efforts.
