HEEAP prepares 5th annual engineering conference in Vietnam

For five consecutive years, in different cities through Vietnam, HEEAP and its partners have hosted an annual Vietnam Engineering Education Conference. HEEAP prides itself on innovation and succeeds each year at producing a conference that grows in size and influence and paves a path for new ventures and partnerships via their extended network.

As HEEAP began preparing for its 5th Annual Conference, it was noted that HEEAP’s network had expanded beyond Vietnam into other regions of Southeast Asia, and that its programs had evolved to encompass not only engineering, but also the vital fields of science, math and technology — known together as STEM.

Careers in STEM fields are the innovative force behind the world’s economy, and the ASEAN region has become a significant focus of global trade. These global forces continue driving the demand for a more competitive and innovative workforce, and both public and private universities across Vietnam and the region are under pressure to expand and enhance their academic programs in the quickly evolving STEM fields.

Educators are constantly looking for new ways to encourage students to think outside of the box, along with better ways of engaging industry to ensure the relevancy of their education. New programs that support the creative and needed genius of entrepreneurs and makers are emerging throughout universities and communities across the region and globe.

In an effort to help direct and stay in line with this trend, HEEAP’s 5th Annual Conference has been appropriately renamed, the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Conference, or STEMCON. This year’s conference theme, “STEM Advancing the Future of Vietnam: Inspiring Students, Makers, Educators & Entrepreneurs to Innovate”, will be the emphasis for two days of interactive plenary and technical sessions, panel discussions, exhibits and seminars.

STEMCON will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake on March 1-2, 2017. Registration is open through February 8, 2017.
